Cool.

I'm stuck on 8 now though. I'll try it again when I come back from up north.
I do what I can.

Damn. This is more addictive than the Crimson/Viridian Room games. I made it to level 14, but I'm too tired to figure it out tonight.

Some helpful but vague hints.
- links that don't contain http:// are local
- use firefox; you can turn off javascript
- look at all the source code!
- download and check out all linked files
- you will need a java class decompiler (a useful tool to have anyway)
- don't ask me or Google. We shall yeild little information.
- familiarize yourself with html character codes (hint: %20 is the same thing as space. surely you've noticed this by now. well, it works for a lot of other characters...)
I do what I can.

One of the featured hackers in 2600 one month simply gained access to restricted information just by playing around with URL's. Learning how to break that stuff is the best way to learn how to properly code/configure communication systems. I've read quite a few of the Hacking Exposed series (which look really corny but are great books) and while configuring numerous boxes I can say for sure that it is the only way to be pro-active about security.
"...I always tell my friends that if its in the news we dont have to worry about it because it rarely ever happens, thats what makes it news. Its when something is not in the news anymore that we have to start to worry" - Philip Greenspun
